go brit!, a fast-casual Euro-style eatery like no other

That grand opening is getting closer and closer. Now with the bright red telephone
doors installed at our new location on 18388 Coastal Highway, we're hearing lots
of questions about what will make go brit! unique (besides its British flavor and
vibrant Euro-style décor).

We like to call go brit! the Little Sister. She will model the very best of our
flagship restaurant go fish!, a mainstay on Rehoboth Avenue since 2002. But as to
be expected, the darling will run things her way.

She fancies the concept of "fast casual," a relatively new segment of the restaurant
industry somewhere between a casual dining establishment and a quick-service joint
(sometimes known as fast food).

Fast casual eateries have more grace and style than quick service options. They
have developed a reputation as a fresh, made-to-order alternative to traditional
 fast food.

As a place that aims to plate more quickly, with a degree of self serve features,
you'll enjoy more speed and efficiency than in a casual dining environment. But
you'll love the modern, upscale décor and the availability of beer, wine and mixed
drinks to make for more complete meals.

These are just a few details about go brit! You'll have to come in for a visit in
a few weeks to tell us what you love the most about it. Stayed tuned via our Facebook
page, www.facebook.com/gobritrestaurant.com [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=gn4h8wiab&et=1109322041910&s=684&e=001cRXmSfqWdwp0RpHqUT1VlsxyfSPpB1WkPEYCwKKA106bwxQgAssqP7Wt-I1wbhwVGnvuG6mxdtv6hhjM-mxES8tiUE5vyqekjAVBBtpSr8E0jLb9J3NfH6W8yifHecdT-dfw4jad8M0=]

More mushy peas with that fish and chips, eh chum?
In fish and chip shops across England, when buying your fish and chips you will
be offered a side serving of mushy peas. Many Brits think mushy peas are the essential
accompaniment to fish and chips and can't imagine eating fish and chips without
the peas. But what exactly are mushy peas, how are they made and what gives them
 that bright green color?

The basics

Mushy peas are not your usual garden-grown variety. They're made from marrowfat
peas, a bigger and rounder sort. To be sure, marrowfat peas stay in the ground longer
than the normal garden peas.

The process

Mushy peas are dried and later plumped by soaking them in water overnight. Once
they are softened, they are boiled in a large pot with salt and a spoonful of sugar
until they turn into a thick soup. The peas can then be canned and stored or frozen
in portions to be defrosted as needed. Often they're colored artificially as they're
more grayish than green.

Very few restaurants, or fish and chip shops in England, will make their own peas,
with most buying them in bulk from wholesalers. Not so at go fish! where mushy peas
are made fresh daily and without any artificial food coloring! What a powerhouse
of British goodness. You want to try? Come on over! We've got lots to share.

One more reason to love fish and chips: the beloved platter helped England win World
War I

The affordable staple kept British soldiers well fed and helped them overcome the
Germans, according to historian John Walton, author of "Fish and Chips and the British
Working Class."

He wrote: "The cabinet knew it was vital to keep families on the home front in good
heart... Unlike the German regime that failed to keep its people well fed and that
was one reason why Germany was defeated...Historians can sometimes be a bit snooty
about these things but fish and chips played a big part in bringing contentment
and staving off disaffection."
