Hi everyone,

Before receiving email from Johnny about this situation, I didn't think about plurals at all :)

In the Farsi language, there are two common plurals in the words, "ها" and "ات" like:
"گل" + "ها" = "گلها" or "گل ها"
"گزارش" + "ات" = "گزارشات"
Actually in the Iranian community, there are so many discussions that "ات" has a Arabic root and "We should not use it at all!" And also some people believes that "Plurals like "ات" and "ون" has become common in the conversations or articles especially the word "گزارشات" which has been used in many books,articles, etc.".

Beside of this topic, we can use plurals both and there is no difference between "گزارشات" and "گزارش ها".

There are also some other plurals in Farsi like "ان","ین" and "ون" which used rarely but "ان" is believed that have roots in Farsi:
"درخت" + "ان" = "درختان"
"مخترع" + "ین" = "مخترعین"
"حشاش" + "ون" = "حشاشیون"

And there are other plurals which called "جمع مکسر" and doesn't have stable structure. The roots of this type of plurals is in Arabic and for Arabic words is accepted and for non-arabic words especially Farsi is not accepted:
"استاد" ---> "اساتید"
"کتاب" ---> "کتب"
"وصف" ---> "اوصاف"
The first one is widely used in the society but "Literature specialist" strongly believes that "استاد" has Farsi roots and we should use "استاد ها" instead.

About the amount grammer(if I call it correctly), there is one structure "Number" + "word":
"یک" + "نفر" = "یک نفر"
"دو" + "نفر" = "دو نفر"
"ده" + "نفر" = "ده نفر"
"صد" + "نفر" = "صد نفر"
And about rankings for "first" we use "اول" for word "یک" and for other in the last of word we add "م" on it like "هشتم" for "هشت".

About the situation of grammer in Farsi, there is one organization which issues words and grammar which majority of people don't agree with that!

I can't defend or deny any opinion and it's your politics to chose the plurals in po files. I'm typical user of Farsi language and I do speak other languages as well.

In the last I hope that others join to this conversation and this situation solves correctly.

Please add me in CC since I'm not subscribed to kde localization mailing list but interested in the conversation.

Sincerely,
Sina
