I think silently dropping the previous highscores is baaaaaaaaaaaaad. If we absolutely need a new highscore algorithm I'd prefer to go with a solution like showing a dialog saying that the highscore will be dropped because we have a much more fair scoring system. With the option to cancel, and letting the user go and see the highscores by himself. And then if he tries to start a new game show the same dialog until he accepts.
About the scoring system myself, i'm not a big knetwalk player myself, but i've circuleted a bit around and people is unsure why "misclicks" should lower your highscore and most of them think that time is a good enough highscore. Maybe you could write a post in the forums (forums.kde.org) asking for what are the other knetwalk players opinion on a fair scoring system? What do you think?
