You are right about the Simple Simon solver - the first deal I tried ended up
in an infinite loop moving some cards between two parents back and forth. If
you're interested in an alternative (and likely better) solver for Simple
Simon you can take a look at Freecell Solver - http://fc-solve.berlios.de/ .
The name is a relic of its distant past when it could only solve Freecell, but
it can now solve several related variants of Solitaire including Simple Simon.
PySolFC successfully utilises it for Freecell, Simple Simon and many
other games - http://pysolfc.sourceforge.net/ .
I've started working on integrating Freecell Solver into kpat and got my patch
in a working condition, but since then kpat was updated, and furthermore, I
was focusing on Freecell instead of Simple Simon.
(Note that I'm the originator and main developer of fc-solve, so all warnings
apply.)
