Hi!  Sorry for the extended absence, I'm engaged in another fun side
project outside KDE.  ^^'

Oh, and a little bird told me you might have had a birthday recently,
so happy birthday!  :D

In any event, I'm afraid I can't really say anything that's not
inherently biased, since I am a 2D artist with no real knowledge of
how 3D graphics work in a game environment.  All I can say is that
Neverputt already handles engaging and engrossing 3D mini golf
superbly, and besides that I was always hesitant of putting 3D
anything in a desktop game, given you normally expect them to run
effortlessly on older/limited hardware.

I almost choked when Casper described netbooks (like the five I own)
being to weak to process the shader effects he had in mind to simulate
animation.  Bt contrast, Kubrik and [parts of] KSudoku can stay as the
exceptions to all-2D desktop games precisely because they are simple
and fast, and seem to guarantee little rendering problems on most 3D
graphic cards.  Since 3D Kolf probably would not be able to mirror
that same efficiency, then it might be better off dropped or else it
ends up being a Complaint Magnet.

And this notwithstanding all the logistical problems you described in your

I do feel sorry for all the effort this decision will null and void,
but making hard decisions I guess is part of what we do.  I still owe
Nino an apology for dropping my role as an Oxygen Icon contributor
(after my poor track record).  It was a humiliating decision for me,
but sooner or later I had to admit that that level of hyper-detail
really wasn't for me, and that I'd do everybody a favor if I focused
on projects that I found fun [so that I could actually get things done
for a change, lol]. -v-

So in summary, you have my full support for your decision [even if
that's not really saying much].  ^^
