That... would need to be agreed to by other artists; I guess maybe it is
the best solution (for now*), though.
As a more aesthetic option, what about drawing a blank tile and applying
a filter to it (e.g. darken)?
(* Eventually I'd like to see fully-3d-aware tile art ;-).)
