if you used the exact same methods used back then, it would have the same 
results. instead of writing hand coded assembler, though, we're working with 
higher level languages, using XML to describe images, going through complex 
media systems that demand they work in high fidelity with multiple processes at 
once, etc.

the basic goal might be the same, but the methods and the results (usually for 
the better) are dramatically different.
