I just tried BreakQuest, my wife likes it very much :)

Well, from i what i saw of the demo, the is a lot of things on the GFX
side that may be difficult to implement using a non 3D engine. For
example: lot of particules, deformable objects, rotating objects ...
Then the physics add a lot to the game too, but is just classical issues.

If i had some time i would give a try to a QT OpenGL proto. I did an
attempt at a DOS breakout game a long time ago, but i was blocked by
... a buggy Borland C compiler that for some odd reasons would stop
compiling after a few thousands loc (and i mean really N was fine but
it would choke on N+1)
