It would be even better to use cvs diff -u3 -p to get the diff in unified 
format.

You may want to add this to your $HOME/.cvsrc file (as proposed by KDE 
webpages)

[lada@smrz ~]$ cat cvsrc
cvs -z4 -q
diff -u3 -p
update -dP
checkout -P
