I am closing this bug because scf at FreeBSD.org identified the cause as Firefox's
system-ui font support mapping to unexpected fonts via fontconfig, and the
reporter could not reproduce on 14-CURRENT. A workaround (configuring a
system-ui fontconfig alias) was documented. Both Firefox and fontconfig have
had numerous updates since 2021.
