I saw the same - plasmashell hitting the CPU hard (and as "system" not "user"
time), and poking at it with dtrace showed the same syscalls on the same paths.
I ended up working around it by removing the time widget from my dock, and
haven't investigated any further yet.

It started after the most recent update to plasma from pkg, 6.2.2 I think?
