I am more confident now that something is tampering with the files in
XDG_RUNTIME_DIR. If you remove the socketPath and login to the plasma desktop
from ssdm, you can open a terminal and run "sudo lsof -U" to get a list of all
unix sockets that are open and you will find e.g.,
/var/run/user/1001/kwallet5.socket in the list. The socket existed and was
opened, but has been deleted.
