Currently, 390.157 is in ports tree (main [aka latest] branch).
But unfortunately, no Release Highlights are available for the version.
So not sure it helps or not.

This version is available for Linux, too, at nvidia Unix drivers page.

So x11/linux-nvidia-libs-390 is at 390.157, too.

that would suggest is's not FreeBSD-specific issue.
