Thank you for the tip to disable/purge/enable.
I was able to an index completed under X11.
$ balooctl6 status
Baloo File Indexer is not running
Total files indexed: 12,503
Files waiting for content indexing: 0
Files failed to index: 0
Current size of index is 274.81 MiB
$ pkg which /usr/local/bin/balooctl6
/usr/local/bin/balooctl6 was installed by package kf6-baloo-6.12.0
I am left with this process on logout along with dbus-daemon, both of which I
am able to kill:
