Can't tell for sure, but I'd bet that the problem was introduced by the update
to sddm 0.20.0, and got fixed through the recent work by Gleb Popov on polkit,
consolekit2 and sddm.

Please note that the problem regarding /usr/local/etc/pam.d/sddm-autologin*
config files still persists for me, see bug #272649.
