* Backport upstream commit 4dbc4c1da2a033c497d84a1291c46f416a9cac51 to fix
build with newer versions of libxml2
* While at it clean up Makefile

Compile tested on FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE (amd64) (make, make check-plist)
Poudriere testport OK 12.4-RELEASE (amd64)
Poudriere testport OK 13.2-RELEASE (amd64)
