I see your pam_unix.so has "try_first_pass", so even *if* authentication using
my selfauth-helper would go wrong, there should never be a second password
prompt.

I know "works for me" is not satisfactory at all, but ... it indeed works for
me.

Maybe somebody else might have *some* idea :/

It's a shot in the dark, but did you try to comment out all the opie stuff (in
case you don't use it of course ...)?
