By the way, I looked at the code, maybe not the latest of it, and noticed that
there were various hooks for communicating with "old" kdm, gdm, lightdm and
maybe something else. But there was nothing for sddm. So, after using two xdm
instances for some time, I decided to give a try to lightdm. And I can report a
success with it. I cannot pre-start two X sessions, but I can use the "switch
user" functionality to start another X session with lightdm greeter.
Also, a question: should the switch user dialog help with switching between
currently running X sessions?
Or is it only for starting a new session?
For me it does only the latter. So, I am using the old fashioned Ctrl+Alt+Fx
for the former.
