Yeah, I am interested mostly in all the cool apps. Desktop is not so
relevant to me...

That's what I expected... the obvious question: it may not be perfect,
but if it works better than the status quo for most of the apps, why not
push the updates to the regular ports tree -- especially in the context
of possibly serious security issues?

Well right now I am stuck with kate, as well, but at least for kdevelop
5 you can submit bug reports!
