Perhaps we don't really need to handle "non-existent path" case; I didn't
encounter it and see no usage of QMAKESPEC where it would be expanded
immediately (forcibly or as part of a target dependency for example).

All normal (lazy) expansions of it happen when WRKSRC is already created and
populated, so it should work fine.
