It would be a lot more useful if UPDATING was machine readable.

From a developer POV I can appreciate that is difficult, but from a user POV the current arrangement is a recipe for trouble - make one mistake and you can really hose your system.

     Update all ports that need updating:
           portmaster -a

The last example about reinstalling all ports would mean this machine is basically useless for at least a day or 2 (probably more).

As it is, I can live without KDE (I just installed XFCE) while I tinker with it, but it isn't just a desktop machine.
