[kde-freebsd] Any further help with upgrading kdeadmin-4.10.4

Try reinstalling deskutils/kdepimlibs4 first.  It provides libkldap and specifies its paths in /usr/local/kde4/lib/cmake/KdepimLibs/KdepimLibsConfig.cmake.

Hi Rusty,

Thanks for responding.

This is the output of what is related to libk* in /usr/local/lib currently

(foobar:106:/usr/local/lib) ls libkld*
ls: No match.
Exit 1

(foobar:106:/usr/local/kde4/lib) ls libkld*
libkldap.so@       libkldap.so.5@     libkldap.so.5.0.1*

I did recompile kdepimlibs and kdelibs cleanly. I just did a make clean  but kdeadmin is still trying to find libkdap.so.5.0.1 in /usr/local/lib.  This is the root of my problem.

Here's the current output from trying to build kdeadmin and you can see it continues to still try and find libkldap.so.5.0.1 in /usr/local/lib rather than in /usr/local/kde4/lib where it currently resides.

If you removed it then it shouldn't be picked up.  But the warnings below show that so if you removed it then please show the current error.  Barring that, I suggest you recompile kdepimlibs since that is what generates libkdap.so.5.0.1

It doesn’t exist. I deleted it manually because when I did a script to see what package was responsible/linked to it nothing came back.  This is why kdeadmin is failing it continues to look in that /usr/local/lib and those libraries aren’t there at all.  I’m just looking to find what is the root cause for the kdeadmin script not finding the libraries in the proper place so it will build

Troy,
You may have two sets of libraries.  Can you confirm if this file exists?
/usr/local/lib/libkldap.so.5.0.1

By the looks of the logs, that looks to be an older library that is being picked up first by the compiler and is linked against older libraries that you no longer have.

Hi Rusty,

Thanks for the response.  In actuality my libraries are in /usr/local/kde4/lib but the kdeadmin installation script keeps trying to look in /usr/local/lib.  I’m trying to get to the bottom of why the kdeadmin installation keeps trying to look in the wrong place for the libkldap libraries.

In looking at your libs, they are not in the right spot and so seem to be orphaned by a previous install.  My ldap files are in
[tethys]:/usr/ports/sysutils/kdeadmin4> locate libkldap
/usr/local/kde4/lib/libkldap.so
/usr/local/kde4/lib/libkldap.so.5
/usr/local/kde4/lib/libkldap.so.5.0.1

While yours are in /usr/local/lib/
