Hello,

I encounter from time to time that the proc 'dbus-daemon' in the above
mentioned env (together with Evolution, Firefox, Skype and Pidgin)
consumes a lot of CPU time, for example:

last pid: 2722; load averages: 0.04, 0.09, 0.08 up 0+04:48:42 13:16:40
123 processes: 1 running, 122 sleeping
CPU: 0.0% user, 0.0% nice, 1.1% system, 0.0% interrupt, 98.9% idle
Mem: 469M Active, 452M Inact, 139M Wired, 26M Cache, 112M Buf, 1909M Free
Swap: 4096M Total, 4096M Free

 1343 guru 1 44 0 29564K 23968K select 1 0:54 0.00% kdeinit

I understand (or better: see) that dbus is launched by the start of
KDE3, and is running as:

ps axl | fgrep dbus
 1001 1387 1 0 44 0 4780 2328 select I ?? 0:00,00 dbus-launch --autolaunch 2bf0b1653b041a458f0f39554a045591 --binary-syntax --close-stderr
 1001 1392 1 0 44 0 3476 2040 select Ss ?? 0:56,34 /usr/local/bin/dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 5 --print-address 7 --session

What would be the best way to get more details about what it is doing,
i.e. enable some kind of logging of its avtivities?

Thanks

	matthias
