Just finished upgrading to 4.5.1, and can no longer use KMail. This makes
me deeply sad. The problem appears to be akonadi not starting. I get the
following messages when running akonadictl start:
[akonadiserver] search paths: ("/usr/local/kde4/bin", "/sbin", "/bin",
"/usr/sbin", "/usr/bin", "/usr/games", "/usr/local/sbin", "/usr/local/bin",
"/home/david/bin", "/usr/sbin", "/usr/local/sbin", "/usr/local/libexec",
"/usr/libexec", "/opt/mysql/libexec", "/opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin",
"/opt/mysql/sbin")
[akonadiserver] Found mysql_install_db: "/usr/local/bin/mysql_install_db"
[akonadiserver] Found mysql_upgrade: "/usr/local/bin/mysql_upgrade"
"akonadiserver" [out] "Looking for 'mysql' as: /usr/local/bin/mysql"
"akonadiserver" [out] "Looking for 'mysqlcheck' as:
/usr/local/bin/mysqlcheck"
"akonadiserver" [out] "Running 'mysqlcheck'..."
[akonadiserver] /usr/local/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 2002: Can't connect
to local MySQL server through socket
'/home/david/.local/share/akonadi/db_misc/mysql.socket' (2) when trying to
connect
[akonadiserver] FATAL ERROR: Upgrade failed
[akonadiserver] Database process exited unexpectedly during initial
connection!
[akonadiserver] executable: "/usr/local/bin/mysqld_safe"
...
I assume there is something wrong with my MySQL installation, but not
being a database guy, I have no idea. mysqld is running. Any help out
there?
