I ran in the same issue when upgraded to KDE4.2 (a side effect of
upgrade Xorg). As Patrick said is a known problem, try Option
"AllowEmptyInput" "off" in xorg.conf. Unfortunately it doesn't fix the
problem always, and I had to change input mouse from /dev/sysmouse to
/dev/psm0 in xorg.conf to fix it (I have a usb mouse with a ps/2
adapter). As far as I know it's a hald related problem.
