Unofficially, this is a place to start, http://techbase.kde.org/User:Jucato

No assurance of bugfixes from KDE for version 3. At some point going to 4 will
be the only way to go

Confession time, I still mostly use KDE3 myself. I would like to see it stay
around for some time to come. But the fact of the matter is we have a small
and talented group of folks helping support the FreeBSD port of KDE. It takes
a combined effort of all of us to keep on top of KDE4 updates, and trying to
keep multiple branches maintained is a lot of work for a group of volunteers.
So really, unless somebody openly contradicts me, or has a better plan, I
suspect that kde3 will go away at the end of 2009.
