i don't care about pulseaudio, i don't use it, my problem is:
- i had pulseaudio installed
- i built kdemultimedia on it
- pulseaudio was not required by any of my packages, so i removed it
- kmix was crashing

then i had to rebuild kdemultimedia with pulseaudio deinstalled
