[kde-freebsd] polish/kde-i18n question (possibly not only polish)

i installed this+kde3. no matter if i use xdm or kdm where are squares in 
place of polish letters in menu and messages.

when not using KDE i successfully use polish fonts everywhere, like xterm, 
opera etc. i have

         :lang=pl_PL.ISO8859-2:\

in login.conf


any idea what to change?
