I may have to switch to cmake. What I have right now for several apps is a 
short "configure" shell script with traditional behavior, that sets a few 
DEFINES and runs qmake.

I may ponder a wrapper script for qmake (and other parts of Qt), so that one 
can easily switch between versions and builds.

p.s. Qt4 Designer is installed under /usr/local/bin/designer, which comes 
before Qt3's /usr/X11R6/bin/designer in search order. For a few agonizing 
minutes I thought the Qt4 ports had overwritten the Qt3 port! :-)
