 That bug is known, but has been patched in the kdebase port since KDE 3.5.3 
 (see 
 http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/ports/x11/kdebase3/files/patch-kdm-kfrontend-genkdmconf.c). 
 
 My guess is that you have an old genkdmconf binary somewhere in your path 
 which still has the bug or your Xsession script is old and you are running 
 kdm_bin directly instead of the kdm wrapper script.
