On the other side, not having the version available breaks the expection of the version number immediately available in the "Info" box, as most of the other applications do (even with multiple tabs, see Scribus).
I disagree with the version number not being of interest generally. I think that most of If Neon patches the version number to be the same as the operating system, it's a downstream problem.
