Scope of framework integration plugin?

That mostly comes from X resources.

can you run:
 xrdb -q | grep  Xft

on both?

startkde has a bunch of scripts to set these from your kde settings, but
it's somewhat archaic so I can see why Gnome might have ported away.

And that gives horrible spindly fonts, so I was thinking of ways to fix
