Not that I grasp the issue, but if it is a general problem that could
have impact on every application using custom icon overloads/additions
in appdir, I am not sure that installing to system-wide hicolor would
be a very practical solution given the amount of apps apparently doing
this (and that's only the ones I have installed...):
