David, I should have phrased my lines above as “I applied your patches, 
reinstalled ECM, kxmlgui and kate, but I don’t see a folder…”.
:)

You'd sent me the patches and I used those but picked the then updated diff
from RB to test your changes before they were committed.

How else would I have found out that there were changes, but puzzling ones,
i.e. the kwrite vanishing, but not resurfacing someplace else?!
