i thought about that, but i can't really figure a place where it would make 
sense.

it is an x11 specific concept and really only useful for "behind the scenes" 
support of workspace related features (clipboard, the old global menu 
approach, active x11 window compositor ..), which is why it's realy only used 
in kde-workspace + classes in kdelibs that had to do with custom workspace 
integration.
