Hello Santosh,
welcome to KDE Finance.
Cristian is an experienced developer and I'm sure he'll be able to
help you. And the rest of us are available to chime in if needed.
I can help with the more administrative-related tasks, too.

Your effort will be part of a new framework called Alkimia.
http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KdeFinance/Alkimia
It fits one of the desired use cases.
http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KdeFinance/Alkimia/Usecases#Central_Stock_Price_Information

Skrooge and KMyMoney both have ways to retrieve stock information. I'm
not familiar with Skrooge, but I know KMyMoney uses both custom
parsing of the web pages and a perl script called finance::quote (it
is a separate package and we have a plugin that calls the script to
retrieve the info).
Guillaume or Sebastian can provide more info about Skrooge.

The stock information should be stored in a repository of Alkimia,
where it can be queried by any application via DBus. Mukesh, another
SoK student is working on a DBus service, so it'll be probably helpful
if you get in touch with him later about it.

The sms ticker should connect to it. I'm not familiar with any sms
server, but I've seen some around. You can search in kde-apps for
similar applications that can be used as examples.

We would like to know more about you. Do you have experience with C++,
Qt, KDE, databases, etc.?

Welcome to the group!

Regards,
Alvaro
KMyMoney development team
