[Kde-finance-apps] Fwd: KDE Finance Apps Group Sprint
Klaas Freitag
freitag at kde.org
Mon Feb 8 21:57:57 CET 2010
Hi,
find attached the mail I just sent out to the KDE e.V. board
asking for sponsoring. Now there is no way back :-)
What we should now do:
- Finalize the attendee list
- Agree on the date, I think april 23-25th or april 30-may 2nd
are still in the race
- Most important: Get reliable estimates for travel costs
to report to the board to ask for reimbursement.
I started a techbase page about the sprint:
http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KdeFinance/Spring-Sprint_2010
Please everybody fill in missing information, especially in the
attendee list.
Thanks,
Klaas

hello board,
you might have noticed that a KDE finance app group has started recently.
After a longer discussion phase we now have a mailing list started
(kde-finance-apps at kde.org) and started to work more closely. I am
excited :-)
On the list there are people from all "finance related apps" active,
such as KMyMoney, Skrooge, Kraft, LemonPOS and a management software
for non profit organizations (which name I forgot atm, sorry).
Additionally there is at least one person working on localisation
topics in kdelibs offering help in our area.
The aims of the group are so far to set up:
- KDE Finance Stack: a framework within KDE that helps to
integrate finance related apps process- and data wise. The rational
behind that is that users for example ask for accounting related
functions in Kraft. But it not make sense to implement these in
Kraft because Skrooge or KMyMoney already have them.
The benefit that we think makes KDE so incredible strong is
integration that all these apps work together.
A very concrete example is: If an invoice is issued in Kraft Skrooge
and KMyMoney should notice that payment is expected. If the money
comes in via online banking, Kraft should get the information back
to checkmark the invoice.
- A common terminology over all the applications
- A common icon set
For end of april, beginning of may (date not yet completely fix) we
plan a sprint to work on these topics. We plan for three complete days,
arrive thursday, work friday->sunday. The location will be the office
of the company Thomas Baumgart from KMyMoney works for, it is in Frankfurt
am Main and we can be there for free. Hotel rooms around range from 40
to 60 Euro on weekends Thomas said.
The current list of attendees has around eight people now, coming from
the US, argentinia, france, belgium, romania and germany.
We'd like to ask for your blessing of course first ;-) and if you
would consider our activity worth of being sponsored by the e.V. ?
We would appreciate that, especially since the travel fees can be
comparable high given the spreading of the people over the planing.
If you agree I'll assemble a list of travel costs and come back again :-)
regards,
Klaas
