I've been interested all the time, but could not contribute to the discussion.

digiKam is basically waiting with a release untill this issue is clear. I saw 
scripty is working there, but I also saw things in /tags and I saw some 
extragear application which are only in /tags and not in /branch, so we were 
confused. 

We are interested in your script or if you want to help us with that would be 
great....
