The digiKam team is pleased to announce digiKam version 0.7.1 beta1.
Past weeks we have worked hard to fix several bugs, update the documentation,
add new plugins and some nice new features. We have added album history
navigation, non-blocking thumbnail loading and exif rotation, title based
painting routines for the ImageEditor canvas and auto album creation while
downloading photos. A more complete list can be found below.
[Beta1]
This release is a beta release, that means that we request users to test this
version of digiKam and report bugs. We have planned to make a final release
just before the end of this year.
[General digiKam information]
digiKam is a digital photo management application for KDE, which makes
importing and organizing digital photos a "snap". The photos can be organized
in albums which can be sorted chronologically, by directory layout or by
custom collections. An easy to use interface is provided that enables you to
connect to your camera and preview, download and/or delete your images.
[New features]
- New Image properties common dialog with new Exif Viewer.
- Common Tag/Description dialog for Main window and Image Editor.
- Album navigation history.
- New Aspect Ratio Crop tool for ImageEditor.
- Non-blocking thumbnail loading and exif rotation.
- New standalone photo viewer named 'showFoto' for kde using digiKam’s canvas.
- Tile based painting routines for the ImageEditor canvas.
- Auto album creation while downloading photos.
- Non-blocking histogram calculation using threaded implementation.
- Updated manual.
- Updated translations.
- And too bug fix !

The tarballs can be downloaded from http://digikam.sourceforge.net/
Note: to compile digiKam 0.7.1 release you need to compile and install
libkexif 0.2.0 from kdeextragear-libs-1 before.

The digiKam team
