Hi all!

I write to you all because you were the ones that were contacted by Niels f=
or=20
a cd-burner meeting. So what is the current status? What did you decide?

There are still all three apps in KDE cvs.
As you might remember the Thread "App duplication again" on core-devel=20
( http://lists.kde.org/?t=3D102050810200002&r=3D1&w=3D2 ) came to the concl=
usion=20
that a new module will be created for all apps that cannot be agreed to be =
in=20
any of the other modules. This module is called KDE Extra Gear and will be=
=20
announced during this week(-end). All the cd-burning apps in main kde modul=
es=20
(I am currently aware of cdbakeoven, k3b and kreatecd) should go there and =
I=20
would like to move them before the announcement of the new module is made (=
so=20
we already have something to show :).=20

You (the maintainers of those apps) might want to ask one of the people wit=
h=20
enough rights to move stuff on the server to do this so you know when exact=
ly=20
this happens and keep the cvs history. I think that David and Waldo can do=
=20
this.

There is a mailing list for this new module (please subscribe at=20
http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-extra-gear ) and I want this modul=
e=20
to become really worthwhile and a place for good apps that should be=20
associated with the KDE Project but can not be part of the KDE release for=
=20
one reason or the other. I also hope that we can encourage the translators=
=20
and documentation writers to take the applications in the Extra Gear as=20
seriously as the application in the main modules.

Applications in the Extra Gear will be released independantly and I hope to=
 be=20
able to automate as much of this process as possible. Please tell me what y=
ou=20
think needs to be done for this.

Looking forward to some great apps for a great new module!

Greetings,
Klas
