We plan to make yet another release based on kdelibs4 in the not so far
future. There are couple of things that are already partially implemented in
the code or can be easily implemented with passable amount of time like
filling below/under the curves, region breaking, import of binary data, some
new operations on columns like addition of two columns, subtraction and so on.

I already started working on them. After that we'll completely switch to kf5.
We can also merge master to frameworks from time to time in order to avoid big
conflicts. The release after the next release will then contain bigger feature
developments and will be based on kf5.
