[kde-edu]: Introductions, Step and GSoC

Hello,

I'm a third year undergraduate student in Physics currently at the
Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. I was hoping to apply
for GSoC this year and work with Step. I've been looking at the code
documentation (for StepCore, so far) over the past couple of days and
think that I can actually contribute to step over the summer. I would
love to have some pointers to look for more information about step,
maybe some specific areas of the code that are important or something
that I might be missing at first glance.

I've been somewhat involved with the open source community over the
past couple of years, although more as a user / promotional guy than a
developer. I would like to start contributing, code-wise, also -
irrespective of GSoC. Step seems to give me a rare opportunity to do
this while be being somewhat related to my major as well.

I'll try to look through the rest of the codebase over the next few
days and come back with a more solid proposal than "I'd like to do
something", but at the moment I really think that I can at least make
the beginnings of the 3D interface, and finish atleast an alpha- or
maybe even beta- quality version by the end of the summer. Once I
start working on it, I'm confident that I will see it through to the
end and stick on with it for the forseeable future.

Regards,
Chintalagiri Shashank
