I didn't follow the discussion so perhaps that's already been said, but:
Edubuntu people once told me that their problem with kde-edu was the size of
i18n packages. According to them, the best thing that we could do would be to
split i18n into smaller packages, for example kde-edu-i18n-fr instead or
kde-i18n-fr. Indeed, Edubuntu is a live-CD and therefore disk space is
limited.
