Hi all,
1. aKademy 2007
aKademy 2007 in Glasgow was full with Education related events.
- Inge Wallin gave a talk about "KDE in Large Installations and Thin Client
Settings". See the video:
http://home.kde.org/~akademy07/videos/2-10-KDE_in_Large_Installations_and_Thin_Client_Settings.ogg
and the page:
http://akademy2007.kde.org/conference/talks/48.php
- Tuesday 3rd July was the full Edu & School Day
You can find the schedule and slides here:
http://akademy2007.kde.org/codingmarathon/schoolday.php
and here is the report:
http://edu.kde.org/events/akademy2007/EduDayReport.odt
(the report has to be improved, if you have improvements you can send the new
report here and someone will commit it as I'll be in holiday for 2 months)
- Wednesday 4th July we had a BoF about KDE-Edu.
The reports can be found here:

ODT: http://edu.kde.org/events/akademy2007/EduBoF.odt
I'd like to warmly thank Wendy van Craen for taking notes during the Edu Day
and Inge Wallin for preparing this day with me.
Thanks to all the speakers. The talks were very interesting and hasn't it be
for the Tutorial Day happening at the same time we would even have had more
audience.
2. Intel CLASSMATE PC
Intel people could not come and were represented by Mr Helio Chissini de
Castro but they will send me a Classmate PC so I can test KDE-Edu software on
it. I'll expect to get it in August when I am back to France and start
looking at it. We have to follow this closely as it's a real big chance for
KDE-Edu. My idea is maybe to set a week-end to work on that in September or
October, maybe as well with the KDE people porting KDE software on Windows.
I'll tell you more when I am back from holidays and when I get the machine.
3. OLPC
OLPC: maybe someone can order a machine from them and see what we can do for
KDE-Edu software. I guess anyone interested in porting our applications can
request an OLPC, just ask someone from the eV to back you up by adding an
official note in the mail.
4. What's next?
I'll be away from internet for nearly 2 months due to family holiday. I
enjoyed being at aKademy and meeting the KDE-Edu people who were there. I'll
be back end of August.
It would be good if the KDE-Edu team could meet for a working weed-end at some
point in late autumn/winter. The KDE project can sponsor for your expenses so
I'd really like to set that up when I am back. I'd like to ask you to think
about it already and see what week-ends would be possible. We would define
the KDE 4.1 release and follow up from the ideas that came at aKademy.
I wish you all a nice summer!
Regards,
Anne-Marie
