The "thing" is in kdenonbeta for a reason, it's a work in progress. All  
the algebra sections (in fact the whole KMathTool) is being re-written  
(Note the latest update). The algebra code as it stands now, will be used  
as a "check yourself section" with teaching modules. The teaching modules  
are coming, I'm looking for SMIL authoring tools (open source or GPL'ed).  
No luck so far. The SMIL content is for graphically representing the  
operations in algebra.
