Hi,
There are currently 15 open bugs/wishlist items for FlashKard. I've
looked at them in terms of how KWordQuiz would solve these issues. My
conclusion is that six of them are requests for features already present
in KWordQuiz, one feature was recently implemented in KVocTrain, and
three are high priority wishes that I intend to work on. The rest have a
more unclear status/relevance, but are most likely not very important.
Comments?
Annma, please respond to item 8 below.
Thanks,
Peter
1. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61728 saving over existing
flashkard-files deletes all old flashkards
Should probably be marked invalid.
2. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75392 option to use flashkard as
screensaver / for unlocking screensaver
A wish with low/no priority
3. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55618 remember words you didn't know
KWordQuiz does this.
4. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59487 add preference for font size
KWordQuiz has this.
5. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60609 korean input with ami
screwed up
KWordQuiz' behavior unknown
6. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59565 slots for learning progress
This is a request for a Leitner system. This was recently implemented in
KVocTrain and may be implemented in KWordQuiz in the future.
7. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71165 more font/colour settings
for cards
KWordQuiz allows you to change the font, but not colors
8. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79785 Suggestion: Automatic
keyboard layout switching
This is high priority request. WordQuiz has this feature and I want to
do it in KWordQuiz and KVoctrain. Would it be OK to have a dependency on
kxkb in kdebase or do I have to write my own implementation?
9. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58209 wishlist: multiple front's
and backs on one card
The ability to specify more than one correct answer to a question is
probably the most requested feature for any flashcard/vocabulary
program. Personally I have been reluctant since it makes it possible to
never learn certain answers, but teachers assure me that they will be
happy to get any correct answer. Will be implemented in KWordQuiz.
10. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70738 Special characters not
masked, data lost
KWordQuiz' behavior unknown
11. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75394 option to give hint by
displaying some letters of the answer
KWordQuiz has this feature
12. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75396 check only a selected part
of string (option to give context)
KWordQuiz has this feature. See handbook for Fill-in-the-blank.
13. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62369 After saving the file,
some custom XML information is lost (style sheet association)
KWordQuiz would have the same problem, put this is really a wish for
printing which KWordQuiz already has.
14. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75391 abillity to mark stressed
cyrillic chars (accent-bearing russian letter)
Not possible in KWordQuiz either. Would require a rich text implementation.
15. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59564 images and text for the
front side and back side
Support for images and sounds is on the todo list for KWordQuiz/KVocTrain.
