[kde-edu]: Compiling KDE-EDU from CVS

Hello,

It is basically just a matter of going through the
configure-make-make-install cycle. But...as you are
trying to mess around with a potentially unstable
version and because it is likely to be binary
incompatible with your current version of Qt and KDE
you have to take some precautions.

This is what I do :

I make a special user just for CVS versions.

Then I download sources from

qt-copy
kdelibs
kdebase
kdeedu

Obtain the sources from the snapshots or through
anonymous CVS (this is prefered to keep the bandwidth
low but if you intend to do this only once it is the
same...use cvs if you want to keep your cvs version
current). If you use the cvs version there is an
additional step to be done (make -f Makefile.cvs)

Then I do everything as this user.

So open a console and execute the make cycle.

This is just to give you an idea, there is in fact a
step-by-step guide here:

http://quality.kde.org/develop/cvsguide/buildstep.php

the explanations on the koffice site may also help:

http://www.koffice.org/download/source.php

I hope this helps!

Marc
