SFSCon is this weekend in Bolzano/Bozen. Watch KDE Eco's Opt Green
hybrid talk and join our in-person Windows-10-to-Linux BoF ("Birds of a
Feather" brainstorming meetup) afterward!
The topic of the BoF will be coordinating a global, unified campaign to
raise awareness about Windows 10's end of support on 14 October 2025,
the role software plays in driving e-waste, and how independent,
sustainable Free Software is a solution to keep those devices in use and
out of the landfill.

For those who cannot attend in person, I will update the community with
some ideas we collect and the next steps in the campaign. We will hold
follow-up BoFs online and at Chaos Communication Congress in Hamburg at
the end of December as well as at FOSDEM in Brussels at the beginning of
February.
BTW 14 October 2025 is KDE's 29th birthday [0] and (you really can't
make this up!) International E-Waste Day [1] from the WEEE Forum (Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment). The stars are aligned for this
campaign!
Cheers,
Joseph
