KDE Connect: cannot connect - cannot find help

Hi,

I'm very disappointed in this.
5.11.0-25-generic #27~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP (neon)
Although the iPhone is seen by dmesg as a tethered device, the only message
I get is:
QQuickItem::stackBefore: Cannot stack QQuickRectangle(0x55773fdb2de0,
parent=0x55773fe0a010, geometry=0,0 0x0) before
QQuickPopupItem(0x55773fdce690), which must be a sibling
I can find no advice to make progress either on the KDE Connect site or
external sites

If you can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.
