I want to default to NO THUMBNAILS in okular

I don't ever want to see thumbnails unless I CHOOSE to see them for a 
specific document.  There doesn't seem to be a way to make NO THUMBNAILS 
a default.  Did I miss something?

[Not running KDE, just using various K-apps in slackware.]
